ABOUT US

Keely and Jenna met while studying Social Work at UBC. Their friendship was forged over many cups of tea, talks of feminism, and a developing desire for a more connected and just world. Social Justice is at the core of both their friendship and their clinical practice. They both have an intersectional feminist, trauma informed approach to counselling. Authentic connection and vulnerability are values that are interwoven throughout their practice. They believe in celebrating joy, embracing the hard things, and creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone, including folks from the LGBTQ2S+ communities.

MEET Jenna

Jenna lives in Squamish with her partner, her son, and her dog, Rowdy. She loves spending time with the people she loves in the mountains and curling up with a good novel to recharge. Jenna is passionate about her community and has lived and worked in Squamish for the past 6 years. 

Jenna is a registered Social Worker in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers  (#15335) with a Bachelors and Masters in Social Work. Jenna currently offers virtual counselling sessions.

Jenna has experience working with victims of crime, including domestic violence and sexual assault. She has experience working within the policing system, both through her role as Victim Court Support Worker and RCMP Victim Services Coordinator. Jenna enjoys supporting youth and young adults as well as their family systems. 

Jenna draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Emotion Focused Family Therapy. She is trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and is grounded in intersectional feminist theory. Jenna believes that relationship and connection are integral to the therapeutic relationship. 

In addition to her private practice, Jenna works as a youth clinician for the Vancouver Coast Health and Substance Use Team in Squamish. Most extended health insurers recognize Jenna’s services. Jenna is also registered as an FNHA mental health provider.

Jenna has experience supporting youth and young adults with persistent mental health and substance use disorders, including anxiety, depression, eating disorder, suicidal ideation, and borderline personality disorder. She works with both youth and adults, and is an LGBTQI2S+ friendly counsellor.

MEET Keely

Keely has combined experience and education supporting clients with various issues related to trauma, mental health, addiction, body image, eating disorders, grief, abortion and domestic violence. Keely has worked with individuals, couples and families. Keely is a LGBTQ2SI+ friendly counsellor.

Keely is a registered social worker (#15872) with a bachelor of social work, master of science in gender, development and globalisation and masters of social work. Keely is in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers.  She provides both in person and virtual sessions. Her office is in downtown Vancouver.

Keely is a daughter, sister, best friend, auntie and wife. Keely loves to laugh, run, surf and spend time with the people she loves most. Outside of work Keely can be found drinking tea or beer with a loved one and connecting over the important things in life. Keely is open about childfree living in a pro-natal world and is candid about her journey of choosing a childfree life in an effort to challenge the stigma women face regarding decisions about their body.

Keely believes in creating a non-judgmental and safe space for clients. 

She believes that clients are the experts of their own lives.

OUR APPROACH

Keely and Jenna practice from an anti-oppressive, intersectional feminist, and trauma informed lens. 

To be grounded in anti-oppressive practice from an intersection feminist lens means recognizing and examining the harmful systems that impact individual’s mental health. Pain and suffering are not created in a vacuum, but rather experienced as a result of the unjust systems that influence daily living. These influences can include patriarchy, capitalism, colonialism, heteronormativity, and prescribed gender norms. 

Trauma informed care recognizes the lived experience of individuals, and prioritises creating safety and offering choice in the therapeutic process.

  • Informed by Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Caregiver support/coaching is valuable to help family systems connect with their loved ones and learn new approaches to providing support.

    The goal is to strengthen the caregiver-child connection and provide tangible tools for better communication and conflict resolution.
